Conceived by the young Dublin composer Michael McGlynn, the world-renowned vocal ensemble Anuna was formed as a response to the rising clamor for change in Ireland and the need to find a voice that fell between the two schools of Irish music, Traditional and Rock. The result: hauntingly beautiful and uniquely transporting music, spanning over 1000 years of history, coupled with complex harmonies, crystalline voices and the traditional undercurrent of percussion.

The 25th annual Sundance Square Parade of Lights presented by AT&T and CHASE in downtown Fort Worth, Texas is just around the corner. This year we are celebrating with the theme, “Silver Bells for a Silver Anniversary”. With over 100 highly illuminated entries, 500,000 lights and the brilliant Fort Worth Holiday Tree in Sundance Square, the Parade of Lights kicks off the Holiday Season in style!
On Friday, November 23, 2007 at 6 p.m., the parade will begin at the intersection of Belknap Street and Taylor Street and travel to Commerce Street, around 6th Street to Houston Street and up Houston Street to Weatherford Street. Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will make their appearance at the conclusion of the parade in a brand new float.

Lockheed Martin, IBM volunteers team up to help families explore engineering through hands-on adventures, February 17-23
The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History will team up with engineers from Lockheed Martin and IBM this month to introduce guests to engineering concepts through a series of fun-filled Engineers Week activities. Starting Sunday, February 17, guests who visit the Museum’s exhibits on the lower level of the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame can wrap their brains around engineering concepts by putting their hands to work with real engineering projects. A team of volunteers from Lockheed Martin and IBM will work with guests to explain the principles of flight, demonstrate aerodynamics, and offer advice to budding architects. Museum guests can watch fascinating demonstrations, ask questions or simply play and explore in areas that will include: • Structure building with KEVA® planks • Paper airplane challenges • F-35 computer flight simulator • Vertical wind tunnel activities • Electrolysis investigation • Fun with Lego® Mindstorms® and more
Lockheed Martin and IBM professionals will be on hand to work with Museum guests on Sunday, February 17, from 2 to 5 p.m. and on Saturday, February 23, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The volunteers will also work with pre-booked school groups from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday. This festive community ceremony is FREE for the whole family. The festivities begin with a stadium parade featuring over 1000 Fort Worth ISD students who have created giant puppets, banners, and costumes for the day. Local Fort Worth artists, musicians, and performers will join marching bands and stilt walkers in the grand procession onto the field. A musical centerpiece for the performance will be the debut of a symphony by former TCU student and renowned composer Arturo Rodriguez of Monterrey, Mexico. Terry Beeman, of Los Angeles and New York has choreographed a work to be performed by IC’s Debbie Allen Dance Institute. Following the performance, you are invited to gather in the parking lot for hands-on arts experiences, including the creation of a graffiti Wall of Memories about Imagination Celebration’s 20 years in Fort Worth. Nearby at the Community Arts Center, 1300 Gendy, internationally renowned photographer Lekha Singh will open her “Heroes of the Imagination” exhibit reflecting the faces of just a few of the many lives that have been transformed by ICFW.

The Bureau of Engraving and Printing's (BEP) Western Currency Facility produces over half of the nation's currency in Fort Worth, Texas. A BEP employee will be at each of four “living” exhibits being showcased: a turn-of-the-century spider press, a mutilated currency desk, an engraver’s bench, and a platemakerstaffed table. Visitors will be able to directly interact with the experts about their respective crafts. The entire experience including the walkway tour, is free! A moving and celebratory musical play in which hats become a springboard for an exploration of black history and identity as seen through the eyes of a young black woman who has traveled South to stay with her grandmother after her brother is killed in Brooklyn. There is a hat for every occasion, from flirting to churchgoing to funerals to baptisms, and the characters use hats to tell tales concerning everything from the etiquette of hats to their historical and contemporary social functioning.

Spend a day on a working ranch with Cowgirl U and the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA). Cowgirl 101 is an introductory, hands-on workshop designed for the eager, yet inexperienced horseman or horsewoman. AQHA instructors will be on hand to teach basic horsemanship. You will also learn rope handling basics, shape a palm leaf hat and enjoy a chuck wagon lunch. Also, spend time with Cowgirl Hall of Fame Honoree Nita Brooks Lewallen, the first woman to receive the USDA and Goodyear awards for Rancher of the Year in 1986.
