Dallas and Fort Worth Partner to Showcase World-Class Entertainment, Shopping and Cultural Arts
Date: 10/09/2007
As the fourth-largest metropolitan area in the United States, Dallas and Fort Worth have united in order to best showcase the area?s complementary cultural and historical icons. Under the Visit DFW program, the cities are highlighting their collective award-winning architecture, performing and visual arts, celebrated chefs and unrivaled shopping. The strategic approach has resulted in increased visitation to and media interest in the area nationwide and internationally.
?National and international audiences are well aware of our cities? Western heritage, from the Fort Worth Stockyards and Billy Bob?s Texas to the old Dallas television show, which is still popular in Europe,? said Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau President/CEO Phillip Jones. ?While we proudly recognize our past, our area has grown tremendously in size and sophistication with world-class art and museums, dining, retail and entertainment.?
?Visit DFW conveys the excitement and unique attributes of our collective cities,? said Fort Worth Convention & Visitors Bureau President and CEO David DuBois, CMP, CAE. ?Our entire region, which is branded collectively throughout the world, is a formidable travel destination with tremendous attractions to offer visitors. This initiative builds on the recognized DFW name and enhances the established marketing efforts of both Fort Worth and Dallas.?
As neighboring cities, Dallas and Fort Worth not only share history and a world-class selection of attractions, museums, retail and golf courses, they share DFW International Airport, located midway between the two cities, and a partner in Visit DFW. The world's third busiest, the airport offers nearly 1,900 flights per day and non-stop service to 135 domestic and 38 international destinations and boasts a new state-of-the-art International Terminal D. In addition, the airport was ranked ?Highest in Customer Satisfaction for Large Airports? in North America by J.D. Power and Associates, and was named as 2006?s ?Best Airport for Customer Service in the Americas? by an Airports Council International survey of passengers. Non-stop daily service to Amsterdam, London, Paris, Frankfurt, Zurich and other destinations provides international visitors with convenient access to the area.
