< BACK

FORT WORTH, Texas - The Fort Worth Convention & Visitors Bureau announced today that Kristin Jaworski, CTA, trail boss, Fort Worth Herd and the Fort Worth Herd program has been honored with the Patriot Award and the Above and Beyond Award from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense volunteer agency, to employers who support a strong National Guard and Reserve force. Employers qualify for recognition when they practice leadership and personnel policies that support employee participation in the Guard and Reserve.
Jaworski and the Fort Worth Herd were nominated by Jesse Hayden, a Herd drover. Hayden starting working with the Fort Worth Herd in May, 2011 and has recently been deployed to Afghanistan with the Army National Guard. Service members nominate employers by submitting a narrative describing the ways their employer supports their service. All nominated employers receive the Patriot Award, and are eligible for higher awards based on their level of support described in the nomination. The Above and Beyond Award is given in limited numbers by state and territory ESGR committees, and recognizes employers who have gone above and beyond the legal requirements for granting leave and providing support for military duty.

"We are incredibly proud that Kristin and the Fort Worth Herd have received this recognition. The work this team does on behalf of our city every day helps define our sense of community and heritage both for visitors and locals," said David DuBois, president and CEO of the Fort Worth Convention & Visitors Bureau. "Over the years we have had several current and former military work on the herd with us-smart, hardworking, patriotic people. Jesse Hayden, Herd drover, former Marine and Texas National Guard squad leader recently deployed to Afghanistan, is one of those amazing people. Our thoughts are with him as he serves overseas."
