There's nothing more relaxing than a retreat at one of Fort Worth's luxurious hotels for some restful sleep and pampering. Conveniently located in the heart of downtown, Omni Fort Worth Hotel and Sheraton Fort Worth Hotel offer full-spa treatments - massage, facial, body wrap, manicure and pedicure. Other accommodations sure to treat a girl like royalty are The Worthington Renaissance, The Ashton, Embassy Suites Downtown and the Hilton. If it's a bed-and-breakfast that tickles a gal's fancy, Fort Worth has those, too. The Azalea Plantation Bed & Breakfast Inn, a nationally recognized accommodation, is nestled just a stone's throw from downtown; and the Texas White House Bed and Breakfast, close to just about everything, has on-site massage.

At the top of any girl's "must do" weekend getaway list is shopping, and Fort Worth has it all -authentic Western wear, chic fashions, home furnishings, custom jewelry and unique gifts. Home to some of the best malls and shopping centers in the Southwest, the city boasts national department stores, one-of-a-kind boutiques, upscale shops and outlets specializing in antiques. If a gal can't find it in Fort Worth, it probably can't be found.

Tarrant County's only Neiman Marcus is located in Ridgmar Mall west of town. The store is synonymous with luxury - Nancy Gonzalez croc handbags, Prada and Louboutin stilettos, Donna Karan dresses, Yves Saint Laurent suits, and many more magazine-worthy runway labels, as well as beauty brands such as Jo Malone, Chanel and Bobbi Brown. Neiman's restaurant, Zodiac, is famous for its beautifully composed salads and is perfect for lunch or just a quick champagne-and-sweets shopping break.

For all things Western, girls can head to local favorites like M.L. Leddy's on Main Street, Leddy's in Sundance Square or Maverick Fine Western Wear in the National Historic Stockyards. And, Teskey's Uptown, located in the West 7th area, is where rock'n'roll meets cowboy soul. The full-line Western store carries everything from conchos and buckles to kitchen canisters and bathroom decor to saddles and spurs.

If diamonds are a girl's best friend, she's got more than her share in Fort Worth. Jewelers like Haltom's Fine Jewelers, Kube's Jewelers and Grissom's, offer one-of-a-kind, custom-made creations. Should wares from bygone days steal her heart, more than 200 dealers showcase books and magazines from yesteryear, dish and kitchenware collections, handmade quilts and Depression-era glass pieces at the Montgomery Street Antique Mall. Cookie jars, salt-and-pepper shakers, iron cooking utensils and old metal signs grace almost every stall, and the Secret Garden Tea Room inside the mall is a great place for sandwiches, pasta salads and luscious deserts.

While in the area, gals and their pals might want to take time to smell the roses or enjoy the great outdoors. Fort Worth Botanic Garden - home to more than 2,500 species of plants - boasts several individual gardens, including the Rose Garden, where thousands of supple rose blossoms create an environment that excites the senses and soothes the most stressful soul. Gals who enjoy hiking and canoeing will find the Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge a great place to refresh their spirits. Boasting more than 3,600 acres of forests, prairies and wetlands, the area is a reminder of how much of Fort Worth once looked. Weekends are prime time to take advantage of naturalist-led hikes. Ducks, herons, beaver and critters of the night often make an appearance for girls out to enjoy a relaxing moonlit canoe trip along the West Bank of the Trinity River.

When evening comes, Fort Worth comes alive with some of the best dining and entertainment in North Texas. For a truly upscale dining and entertainment experience, girlfriends might want to pair dinner at Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steak House, Texas de Brazil, Grace or Bonnell's Fine Texas Cuisine with the Fort Worth Ballet, Fort Worth Opera or Fort Worth Symphony at the acclaimed Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass Performance Hall. Or, they might enjoy some barbeque and boot scootin' at Billy Bob's Texas, the world's largest honky-tonk. There's live bull riding on weekends, and the joint hosts the biggest names in country music. Other great spots for a little two-steppin' are White Elephant Saloon, Lone Star and Rodeo Exchange.

Fort Worth has a number of one-stop dining and entertainment experiences, such as Buttons, which specializes in "food and music for the soul." And, if it's late night fun girls crave, Fort Worth is home to some of the finest lounges and bars, like Scat Jazz Lounge and Pete's Dueling Piano Bar, the perfect place for a bachelorette party.

From spas to shopping and dining and dancing, Fort Worth is the perfect place for gals and their pals to chill out and get away from it all. So, gather the girls and head to the City of Cowboys and Culture to relax and be pampered.
