Fort Worth Named Best Weekend Getaway by Edmond Sun Readers

FORT WORTH, Texas - The Fort Worth Convention & Visitors Bureau announces that Fort Worth was recently named "Best Weekend Getaway" at the second annual Edmond Sun's Edmond Sunshine Awards. The Edmond Sun is the source for local news in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Edmond Sun readers voted on the award by completing ballots printed in the newspaper. Representatives from the Fort Worth Convention & Visitors Bureau were on hand to receive the award at a breakfast ceremony held on April 6 in Edmond.

Fort Worth Convention & Visitors Bureau Wins District ADDY Award

The Fort Worth Convention & Visitors Bureau announces it has won a Silver District Level ADDY Award for the outdoor sign of iFort Worth, the new state-of-the-art Visitor Information Center located in the historic Jarvis building in the heart of Sundance Square. The sign features an "i," the international symbol for information, with a Fort Worth twist of a cowboy boot toe and heel along with a star-shaped spur.
The ADDY Awards is the largest creative competition in the country with about 55,000 local entries competing in 200 cities coast to coast. Winning an ADDY at the district level is the second step in competing for a National ADDY award. Any entry that wins a Gold or Silver ADDY at the district level is eligible to advance and compete in the national competition.

iFort Worth opened last May and was designed by architect Joe Self of Fort Worth-based Firm 817. This state-of-the-art visitor center offers many different options for visitors to obtain information, including a 47" interactive touch-screen device that works much like an iPhone. Fort Worth is the first Convention & Visitors Bureau in the nation to offer the interactive touch screen, endearingly named Molly in honor of Fort Worth's longhorn mascot.
