Cherishing cowboys and culture while embracing 21st-century energy, Fort Worth offers both a hometown feel and metro vibe within its varied established (and up-and-coming) neighborhoods.
In the Sundance Square/Downtown area, you can join the throngs of revelers enjoying the theater; catch a Broadway-style show at the seraph-fronted Bass Performance Hall, a play at the African-American Jubilee Theatre, or an intimate performance at the cabaret-sized McDavid Studio. Not to mention, enjoying the evening at one of downtown Fort Worth's many restaurants and hot nightlife spots.
The Stockyards National Historic District, a big draw for locals and visitors, entertains the crowds with the world's only twice-daily cattle drivealong a streetscape many have experienced only through the movies. Nationally ranked cowboys ride bulls every Friday and Saturday nights at the Stockyards Championship Rodeo at Cowtown Coliseum. See the Sterquell Wagon Collection at the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame. Experience the best in Western shopping. And you won't want to miss Billy Bob's Texas, the world's largest honky tonk, which can hold up to 6,000 guests and is home to some of the best live music in Fort Worth.
Five distinct, world-class museums anchor a park-like setting in Fort Worth's Cultural District. The Amon Carter Museum, the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, the Kimbell Art Museum, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, and the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame offer a wide variety of experiences and masterpieces to thrill the senses and expand the mind.
Several developing shopping and living areas - SoSeven, Montgomery Plaza, and West 7th - connect the Cultural District to Downtown. Dining options include restaurants such as Mac's on 7th, Gloria's, Eddie V's, and Tillman's Roadhouse.
When visiting Near Southside, be sure to see how the cattle barons lived at the Ball-Eddleman-McFarland House and Thistle Hill. Afterwards, stop along Magnolia Avenue for some of the most enchanting and unique dining experiences in Fort Worth, everything from Mexican to Egyptian to vegetarian..
Camp Bowie is a boulevard but feels like a district. Two annual festivals and more than 30 blocks of dining, shopping, wineries and galleries make this one of Fort Worth's most cosmopolitan areas.
And visitors traveling north to AllianceTexas, a Ross Perot Jr.-led master planned business and mixed-use community, will want to see Texas Motor Speedway, home to both NASCAR and IndyCar racing events each year. Shopping in the area includes such favorites as Cabela's, World's Foremost Outfitter and Sam Moon Center.
