TCU Football's Historic 2022 Season

TCU Football's 2022 season was unforgettable. Let's take a look back at how TCU made their way to the 2023 College Football Playoff National Championship. TCU was ranked 7ththe Big XII in pre-season polls and did not receive a single vote in any national polls. The team's starting quarterback Chandler Morris was injured in the preseason, leading to backup Max Duggan getting promoted to QB1.    Head Coach Sonny Dykes is in his first season as head coach of TCU. Coach Dykes is known for taking SMU to 10-3 in 2017.   TCU put the CFB world on notice in week four after crushing #18 Oklahoma 55-24, after which TCU made its first appearance in the AP Top 25, jumping into the #17 spot.   The next week, TCU took down Kansas in front of a College Gameday crowd in Lawrence. By week 8, TCU had broken into the top 10 of the AP Poll.   Garnering more national attention, Fox Sport's Big Noon Kickoff came to Fort Worth for the game against Texas Tech, which TCU won 34-24.   The team again appeared in an away broadcast of College Gameday, this time against UT in Austin. The game was a close contest, but TCU pulled out a 17-10 grinding win. By this point, TCU was one of just four undefeated teams remaining in the country, and buzz was building that the team could make a berth into the College Football Playoffs.    The following week, TCU traveled to Waco to face rival Baylor for another Big Noon Kickoff game. The team won 29-28 after rushing kicker Griffin Kell onto the field for a 40-yard field goal attempt with 0:00 on the clock. Throughout the season, TCU fans and the Fort Worth community rallied together and embraced the fun-loving attitude of the team, including the Hypnotoad, hoodies, and the school's quirky victory .mp4 videos.    The Frogs finished the regular season with a 12-0 record, going undefeated in the regular season for just the third time in program history (1938 under coach Dutch Meyer and in 2010 under Gary Patterson).   In the College Football Playoff semifinals, TCU faced #2 Michigan at the VRBO Fiesta Bowl. TCU wins in a 51-45 shootout, including a 3rd quarter with 44 combined points.   The win earned the team a trip to the 2023 College Football Playoff National Championship, which will be played January 9 at SoFi Stadium near Los Angeles. TCU will face #1 Georgia. This is the first trip to the Championship for TCU since 1938. …
