The Botanical Research Institute of Texas or better known as BRIT, has extended its hours to include Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Now the public will be able to take advantage of BRIT’s new weekend hours to tour the BRIT campus and facility, shop at Flora—the Gift Store, view BRIT’s current exhibit, “Green from the Ground Up” and participate in a number of botanical and educational events based on the season.  

Science Saturdays will be held the first Saturday of every month and will feature numerous events hosted by BRIT’s botanists.  For Saturday, July 2, Science Saturday will include the following:
  • Plant Identification Clinic – bring that mysterious plant that’s growing in your backyard and the BRIT botanists will tell you what it is.
  • Demonstrations of BRIT’s digital herbarium.
  • BRIT’s Plant Preservation Studio – See how scientists create herbarium specimens.
  • BRIT Library reading room and Burk Children’s Library – visit two of the most renowned botanical libraries in the Southwest.
  • BRIT Press publications will be on display and available for purchase.
  • Saturday guided tours of the Herbarium and Library will be provided at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. 
BRIT, located near TCU in the Fort Worth Cultural District  is also open weekdays, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information on BRIT click here
