This July, travel back in time 2,000 years to witness the incredible preservation of one of the most revered and controversial books of all time: the Bible. The Dead Sea Scrolls & the Bible exhibition at Southwestern Seminary includes fragments of biblical manuscripts, dating back as far as 2,250 years. The largest and most comprehensive exhibition of Dead Sea Scroll fragments ever assembled, the Dead Sea Scrolls & the Bible: Ancient Artifacts, Timeless Treasures is the largest ever Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit presented in Texas.

When you visit, you can walk through a replica of one of the original caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. You'll get a peek inside the 1949 excavation tent and experience the thrill of the translation team as they discovered the scrolls that contained Old Testament writings 1,000 years older than any previously known copies! And of course, you will view 16 actual fragments of the Dead Sea Scrollsincluding eight that will be exhibited publicly for the first time in history. Your exhibition ticket also includes a bit of adventure as you experience the Qumran Simulated Dig Site. The site provides visitors of all ages the experience of a lifetime and to find out what it’s like to be a real archeologist. Under the guidance of Ph.D. students, you’ll learn how to take elevations, record measurements and tag artifacts in a replica of an ancient city that’s buried in several tons of dirt, limestone and rock. It’s the next best thing to traveling halfway across the world to perform your own Qumran excavation.
