There’s no better way to enjoy spring in Fort Worth than to head to the annual Mayfest Festival this weekend in Fort Worth. This four day, family-friendly festival features multiple performing arts stages, carnival rides, duck races, an extensive kids area, an art and gift market and lots of tempting food treats. The Festival begins Thursday, April 30, and continues until Sunday, May 3, at Trinity Park of off University Drive.

Kids will love the Frost Zone Area of the festival! The Frost Zone features a giant human maze that kids can get lost in or the more adventurous can zip through the zip line. Kids can also get in touch with nature in the Texas Parks and Wildlife area with free educational activities all about the natural resources and outdoor activities in Texas. While here, look for the Cowtown Hunting Retriever Dogs showing off their leaping and retrieving skills. Activities for younger children include a petting zoo and pony rides.

Duck Races

Another family friendly part of the festival is the Tom Thumb Children’s area full of over 20 free activities for children. Face painting, spin art and noisemakers are just a few of the crafts going on. This area also features the Children’s Performing Stage with many performances for children performed by local talent. Another special attraction to look for is Twiggy the water-skiing squirrel. The Range area of the festival features Duck Races and the Lumberjack Show, along with fun for the thrillseekers in the family with carnival rides and activities like bounce houses and a mechanical bull.

Nothing beats festival food and Mayfest always has plenty of it. Work up your appetite for corn dogs and turkey legs by running in the Mayfest Run on Saturday, May 2. The 1K fun run is one the whole family can enjoy while taking in the beautiful views along the Trinity Trails. There are also distances of 5K and 10K and all participants receive free Mayfest admission.
