If you are looking for something artsy, fun and FREE this weekend, be sure to check out the Family Celebration at the Kimbell Art Museum. The two- day open house showcases the education studios at the newly designed Renzo Piano Pavilion. Creative art-making activities, guided gallery explorations, self-guided architecture tours, demonstrations by artists, and live musical performances will fill January 11th and 12th with family friendly fun.
While the kids are busy checking out the rooms that are begging for messy art exploration, adults can soak in the vision of the new space. Museum officials recognized the need for a space where families could stop in and explore art in a way that is meaningful to children. The education studios meet this need by offering space for parent/child classes and drop-in programs. More programs will be added to the calendar throughout the year to encourage families to start enjoying art at an early age. To make it even easier, the studios offer family restrooms, changing tables, and a variety of activities to keep little kids engaged.
The Family Celebration is free on January 11 from and 12th. No reservations are necessary. Admission to special exhibitions is free during the events. For more information, visit www.kimbellart.org.
