Summer is officially here. Check out our picks for family fun in the sun this June.

Fort Worth Herd Experience

The legendary Fort Worth Herd rides again with the launch of the all-new Fort Worth Herd Experience. While the cattle drive remains on hiatus, an overview of the history of cattle drives is presented by Herd drovers and steers at the Fort Worth Herd Observation Deck in the Fort Worth Stockyards. The 15-minute event takes place at the top of each hour from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays with up to 20 people attending each session by reserving a free ticket in advance. Get the details.

Fort Worth Zoo Re-Opens

The Fort Worth Zoo has kept us entertained and engaged through their many virtual live feeds the past few months. You can now visit the No. 4 Zoo in the nation (USA Today) by following a few new safety guidelines. Advanced ticket purchase is required. Guests must enter the Zoo during their allotted timeslot. Early or late arrivals will not be accommodated. Get the details.

Fort Worth Botanic Gardens

The animals aren't the only ones happy to see you - so are the flowers at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens. The Gardens re-opened to the public on June 1. The phased re-opening limits entry to 60-minute blocks and requires advanced ticketing. No tickets will be sold on site. Get the details.

Walk Around the Cultural District

Get out and explore the grounds of the Fort Worth Cultural District. Start your adventure at Dickies Arena, a work of art all in itself, as you make your way by the National Cowgirl Museum & Hall of Fame, the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, the Kimbell Art Museum and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. Get a glimpse of the popular Trinity Park before heading into the Botanic Gardens. Get the details.

While this isn’t an event, it's likely what you will say when you realize Fort Worth is home to nearly 300 parks that cover more than 12,000 acres! Staying active outdoors is important to our overall physical and mental health during this time -- all while maintaining social distancing. Here are 10 parks, and a sprinkle of trailheads, that are less trafficked. Get the details.

Coyote Drive-In

This timeless experience is one the entire family will enjoy. Snag your tickets online before loading everyone up for a night under the stars. Movies not your scene? The drive-in launched a Drive-In Music Series in May that is planning a reboot. Get the details.

Four-Person Family Sports

Disc golf, badminton, chess and bowling - are four games perfect for a winning family experience. Here's where you can play in Fort Worth with yours. Get the details.
