Few nights provide more opportunities for fine dining and entertainment in Fort Worth than Friday when popular bands are booked around town and restaurants have their full compliment of wait staff on hand for patrons welcoming the weekend. Every first Friday of the month, during the spring and fall, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth offers an enticing event that blends modern art, live music, fine dining, and unique cocktails. What could be better?
First Fridays at the Modern have been become a mainstay of Fort Worth nightlife. The Modern's central location in the Cultural District offers easy parking and access to the West 7th area. First Fridays begin at 5pm in the museum's Grand Lobby.
A guided 20-minute tour (gallery admission applies) is available at 6:30pm. Before and after, you can enjoy late-hour dining at the Café Modern and a rotating monthly lineup of great music and cocktails. For cinephiles, Magnolia at the Modern, offers critically acclaimed films every Friday from 6-8pm. The first event is January 2nd, and features DJ-Rid spinning hits from the ‘80s and a cocktail called the New Year's Kiss. The January event also gives you one last chance to check out a great retrospective on display Urban Theater: New York Art in the 1980s. February 6, jazzbo Nick Kithas provides the music for a night featured a cocktail called Love Potion #9, and the spring is rounded out with George McCallum March 6, and the venerable Tom Reynolds Trio performing classic swing April 3.
