Not only is the “City of Cowboys and Culture” growing rapidly; multiple developments are securing its position as one of the nation’s premier meeting destinations.
The Omni Downtown Fort Worth Hotel, features 614 rooms and nearly 68,000 square feet of meeting space. Other properties include the Embassy Suites Hotel Fort Worth-Downtown, offering 156 two-room suites and meeting spaces that are ideal for smaller events, and the Sheraton Fort Worth Hotel and Spa, where groups will find 430 guest rooms and 22,000 square feet of meeting space less than a block from the convention center. The 294-room Hilton Fort Worth and 504-room Renaissance Worthington Hotel have both completed extensive renovations.
Meanwhile, the Fort Worth Convention Center completed a $75 million expansion and renovation. The Center features a total of 253,226 square feet of exhibit space; 41 breakout rooms; a 28,160-square-foot ballroom, 13,500-seat arena; a public events plaza; and expanded dock facilities.
The Fort Worth Zoo has unveiled its $19 million, 30,000-square-foot, indoor/outdoor herpetological facility, which houses more than 260 amphibian and reptile species, representing about 4,000 animals. Dubbed the Museum of Living Art (MOLA), the facility is the only one of its kind in the world. In addition, the $80 million Fort Worth Museum of Science and History’s brand new facility is situated in the heart of Fort Worth’s Cultural District. Distinguished by bright colors, geometric forms, and abundant natural light, the facility features private event space for groups of up to 4,100.
The Fort Worth Convention & Visitors Bureau and Visit Baltimore have added the Salt Lake Convention & Visitors Bureau to their multi-city sales partnership. Joining forces gives the three organizations the ability to be more competitive by offering incentives for booking a combination of these cities in a multi-year deal.
Finally, the Fort Worth CVB and the city’s hospitality partners have extended the “Fort Worth Meal Deal,” wherein the Fort Worth CVB will share the cost of a meal function and pass the savings back to qualifying groups. The offer is valid only for organizations that have not previously held a large event or meeting in Fort Worth. Business must be secured and booked on or before December 31, 2010. The meeting must take place on or before June 30, 2011.
