When I moved to Fort Worth I noticed a little grocery store near my apartment called Aldi. Like many of the stores in the area ,I had never heard of it, so I didn’t think much about it, hearing about the great savings a few friends had found there I decided to check it out.

The store its self is small but was clean and when I went, had a wide selection. The first thing you will notice is that the brands are not brands you recognize. I bought a box of cinnamon swirl cereal for half the price of a box of cinnamon toast crunch and I can’t taste a difference! You won’t be able to do all your shopping here but Aldi says that many shoppers can do up to 90% of their weekly shopping at Aldi. They carry everything from  fresh meat and produce to frozen foods to dairy, bakery, canned goods, and even paper products.

Things to know before you go: Grocery carts are in the parking lot, and you will need to pay a quarter to rent one, but you get it back when you return your cart.  Aldi does not accept credit cards, but they do take debit cards or cash. This is yet another way to keep prices down. Because Aldi is committed to living green and keeping prices low, they charge a dime for plastic bags or bring your own recyclable one.
