We recently caught up with Tony Green to see Fort Worth through his personal, (very) fabulous lens! Green is an LGBTQ+ icon of Fort Worth — a larger-than-life ally to queer people through his city. He’s spent his entire life in Fort Worth, currently residing in the Fairmount District in the Near Southside, a popular live-play neighborhood in the city. He’s a bartender by day at a wine bar, and by night he hosts events and his own YouTube talk show, "Hello, I'm Tony Green.” He uses he/him pronouns.
"My favorite brunch spot is Wishbone & Flynt. Chef Stefon Rishel took his time making this place right, and he's always been the King of Brunch!"
Favorite Queer Space
"So, my go-to would be a guerilla gay bar-style "takeover" of a neighborhood bar like The Chat Room. As far as traditional gay bars go, The Urban Cowboy is Fort Worth's largest gay bay and boasts some great drag, an amazing dance floor, and a bejeweled guitar that spins where a disco ball would normally be that screams Fort Worth."
Best Date Spot
"I have to pick the Modern Art Museum. It's simply an amazing spectacle of a museum designed by Tadao Ando, and it begs to be seen. Amazing permanent collection, fabulous traveling exhibitions, and, of course, I'm biased because they also hosted my sold-out holiday episode in the auditorium!"
"C’mon. It’s Fairmount all the way! Every cool thing about Fort Worth has made its way through or is supported by this Near Southside neighborhood! Art shows, drag shows, boxing matches, charity events -- all you have to do is ask in this neighborhood, and someone listens."
One Must-Do in Fort Worth?
"This is actually a twofer, but hey everything's bigger in Texas, right? One thing: you have to stop by the Stockyards and see the Fort Worth Herd, a twice-daily longhorn cattle drive. Then head over to Joe T Garcia’s for an unforgettable Tex-Mex experience with only two things on the menu: enchiladas and fajitas. That said, enjoy the beautiful patio and the pitchers of margaritas! Thank me later."
