Before I started to school, my dad would ship 2 -4 semi truck loads of cattle from our place in the panhandle to the stockyards in Fort Worth. he sould ride along in one of the trucks, which were owned and driven by the Keeling brothers, part time rodeo cowboys, cattle haulers, and in ginning season, cotton haulers. A few times he let me ride along. We would get there, sell, deliver, and collect for our cattle, and then head for the Cattleman's Steakhouse. the older men made a big deal of me, just like I was a regular member of the crew. I still enjoy going by the area, eating at Cattleman's, stopping in Leddy's, (four generations of our family have worn their boots), and recall fond memories of the "old days."
