Memorial Day is always observed on the last Monday of May.  The day is both a national reminder of the sacrifices that members of the United States Armed Forces have made and a welcome opportunity to indulge in summer-related activities. If you haven’t finalized plans for Memorial Day weekend (May 24-27), here are a few suggestions.

Fifteen recently purchased photographs form the centerpiece of With the Help of Friends, which runs at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art through June 2. The dynamic images date from the 1930s to the present day and feature works by Joaquin Trujillo, Margaret Bourke-White and others.

Beer yoga is no mere fad. I tried a similar event at HopFusion and found it to be a great start to my day. Martin House Brewing Company offers a lovely view of downtown Fort Worth. Roll out your mat and roll into a downward dog and other fun twists and poses from 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. The $20 session includes an hour-long yoga session taught by Alli Carpenter and four small pours of beer.

Charles Schwab Challenge

The longest-running tournament on the PGA Tour still being played at its original site returns to Fort Worth for the 73rd year May 20-26. The prestigious Colonial Country Club will open its doors to thousands of locals and visitors as the world watches the top players compete for the iconic plaid jacket and Leonard Trophy.

The last Sunday of every month has grown a sizable following at Lola’s Trailer Park. The monthly Rock ‘n’ Roll Rummage Sale offers original art, vinyl records, handmade goods and quirky odds and ends. Add in food trucks, libations from Lola’s two bars and live music, and you have the makings of a great start to Sunday Funday. The event is kid- and animal-friendly.
