The City of Cowboys and Culture continues to grow!  The Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth's Cultural District recently revealed the final design by Renzo Piano Building Workshop (RPBW) for a major new museum building located to the west of the Kimbell’s existing building.  The Kimbell will break ground for the RPBW building this summer. The new addition will only add to the already architecturally infamous Fort Worth Cultural District.

Art-goers will surely appreciate the much-needed space that the RPBW will provide for the Kimbell. Since 1972, when the landmark building of modern architect, Louis I. Kahn, first opened the museum’s exhibitions and educational programs have grown immensely. It has grown so much that the main purpose of this new building is to bring in extra galleries to be used for exhibitions. This will allow the Kahn building to be devoted to the permanent collection. The building is scheduled to open in 2013.
