October 6 & 7

Panther Lab 

Do you have a little scientist or tinkerer in your family? The Panther Lab makerspace is the place for you to visit on Saturday, October 7, at the Northwest Branch Library. You and your little ones will be able to tinker in things like 3D printers, robotics, plus iMacs and even a green screen! Get the details.

The Big Bad Musical 

Take the family to Casa Mañana’s season opener October 5-7. It’s a funny take on the classic Big Bad Wolf. You, the audience, are the jury and must decide the outcome of the biggest trial ever in the fairy-tale world. Get more details.
 


October 13 & 14

Grow Fall Festival 

On Saturday, October 13, from 1-4 p.m., enjoy the Grow Fall Festival at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden. It’s a free event at which you can plant seeds, learn about and paint pumpkins, enjoy story time, and take part in many other pumpkin-themed activities. Get the details.

 

Christmas in Cowtown Holiday Market 

That’s right, I said Christmas! Get a jump on your holiday spirit and shopping list by taking the family to the Christmas in Cowtown Christmas Market, October 11-14. There will be great items for Christmas gifts like jewelry, clothing and children’s toys… but more importantly, on Saturday and Sunday, the kids will be able to have cookies and cocoa with SANTA himself while they participate in fun holiday activities! October 20 & 21

Frontier Fall Fest

Celebrate fall at the Log Cabin Village on Saturday, October 20, from 1-4 p.m. There will be folk singers and the Fort Worth Herd Drovers along with activities such as embroidery and flintknapping! You’ll have to go to find out what exactly flintknapping is. Get the details.

 

Arts Goggle 

Arts Goggle is a free community event that showcases over 800 artists and 50+ bands on Saturday, October 20. You can enjoy the (hopefully) nice weather of late October in the popular Near Southside neighborhood as you peruse the many exhibits. October 25, 27 & 28

Fall Concert in Sundance Square

Head to Sundance Square Plaza for a free, fall concert featuring performances by The Powell Brothers, Cut Throat Finches and Winston Ramble.  Music starts at 6:15 p.m. and ends at 9:30 p.m. Portable chairs and/or blankets for seating will be welcomed.  No food or beverages allowed unless purchased at a Sundance Square restaurant or retailer.

 

Boo at the Zoo

Take the last weekend of October to explore the Fort Worth Zoo in a way the kids will not soon forget with Boo at the Zoo. Trick or Treat at the many treat stations or play carnival games in your costumes all while getting to enjoy the animals as part of your general admission. Get the details.

 

Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering 

It’s time to really get your Cowboy on when you come out the the Fort Worth Stockyards for the 28th Annual Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering running Friday, October 26, through Sunday, October 28. Witness a Wagon Train and Trail Ride ride in to town; line up for a chuckwagon cook-off (they even have a youth competition); and enjoy Ranch Rodeo at its finest in Cowtown Coliseum. Plenty of music (including fiddling, gospel and swing) will also fill the air. Get in the spirit when you enter your kid into the Young Writers Cowboy Poetry Contest so they can show their talents to the world!
