There's a free party happening in Sundance Square Plaza May 7th, and you're invited. The outdoor concert celebrates National Travel & Tourism Week, and the Fort Worth Convention & Visitors Bureau's commitment to bringing visitors to the "City of Cowboys and Culture" for 50 years. Food, drinks and all sorts of merriments will be available from 5-7 p.m.
From 5-6 p.m., local singer-songwriter Kevin Aldridge and The Appraisers will take the stage with their ebullient brand of gentile, country-tinged Americana music. Aldridge is an active local musician with near daily performances as a soloist and with his full musical entourage, The Appraisers. If an hour is not enough time to soak in this group's tunes, you can always catch them again May 8th at Friday on the Green.
Kicking off the six o'clock hour is the indie-rock five-piece, The Unlikely Candidates. The band churns out catchy melody-driven numbers that have caught on locally and nationally. Two years ago, the group struck a record deal with Atlantic Records for their EP Follow My Feet and toured across the states last summer.
Fort Worth-themed t-shirts and prizes will handed out on a first-come, first-serve basis, while beer and wine will be available for purchase. Visit www.FortWorth.com/May7 for more information. See you there!
