Over the past several years, the Fort Worth Nightlife scene has become as vibrant as it is varied, with clubs and venues devoted to jazz, folk, rock, punk, dance music and metal. So if you think the music scene is still all about boots and Stetsons...well stop it.
Mat Kearney plays tonight at Bass Performance Hall: McDavid Studio.
In just three years, singer/songwriter Mat Kearney went from sleeping on a friend's couch to performing at Madison Square Garden. In 2007, the Oregon-born, Nashville-based artist scored a string of coffeehouse-rock singles - including the enormous hit, "Nothing Left to Lose" - that made him a hit on VH1 and Billboard. Kearney returned last year with his second album, City of Black & White, and an acoustic tour that will bring him to the intimate confines of McDavid Studio.
Opening act the Jane Carrey Band is led by actor Jim Carrey's daughter, a guitar-playing chanteuse whose jazzy, country-rock gems are garnering comparisons to the work of Norah Jones and Feist.
