Start you budget-friendly trip to the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District with a stop at the Visitor Center. Inside, you can find free maps and watch a video “Spirit of the West” for only $1. Make sure you are out on Exchange Avenue at 11:30am or 4:00pm for the world’s only twice-daily cattle drive – which is always FREE to see! The Fort Worth Herd also offers Cow Camp, where children and adults can enjoy hands-on nteractive experiences with the equipment used during the cattle drive era. Activities include; roping, sorting, saddling, cattle drive demonstrations and chuckwagon stories. Cow Camp is held Saturdays and Sundays from Memorial Day to Labor Day; 1:30pm-2:30pm.

Every weekend year-round, the Stockyards Championship Rodeo displays bull riding, barrel racing, calf roping and more. Pawnee Bill’s Wild West show, a reenactment of the original Wild West show, provides a look at Western history, including trick shooting, roping, riding and cowboy songs. Group discounts are available and tickets start at $10 – a great deal for the price!
Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame has an assortment of displays which honor Texas men and women who have excelled in the sport and business of rodeo, and the western lifestyle. Admission to the Museum is only $5 for adults – Family packages are also available! Don’t forget about the other FREE attractions in the Stockyards as well: Stockyards Station, Cowtown Opry, Livestock Exchange Building and the Texas Trail of Fame.
You can get Good-Eats for Good Prices too! Lonesome Dove typically offers a daily lunch special for under $10. Riscky’s BBQ offers a variety of BBQ at great prices. Meal Baskets start at $5.50! At Cooper’s Pit BBQ you can customize your meal based on your budget or your belly.
