When looking for an authentic Western heriage experience, look no further than the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District, where you will be able to witness the world’s only twice-daily REAL cattle drive! These Texas longhorn (Texas’ state animal) are driven down the red-bricked avenue by authentic, hard-working cowboys and cowgirls! 16 steers make up the Herd, each representing one decade of Fort Worth’s existence. People from all over the world come rain or shain and vist Fort Worth to stand on the sidewalk and watch these unique animals parade down the street.
The Herd is Fort Worth’s exclusive time portal back to the enchanting days of the Old West. The Herd also has educational programs to inform visitors about cattle and cowboy history. You may have seen The Herd on Good Morning Texas, as they often make special appearances. So come on down ya’ll to The Fort Worth Stockyards to see the one-and-only, twice-daily Fort Worth cattle drive! Yee-Haw!
The Fort Worth Herd is located in Stockyards Station in the Stockyards National Historic Distric, off East Exchange Avenue.
