How ironic that really nothing is left “untapped” in terms of music, food, and, especially, drink, in the 2014 edition of the Untapped Music Festival uncorking on March 8. Distilled down to its very essence, the Untapped Festival fetes great beer and great music, highly compatible bedfellows at a rip-roaring outdoor event where usually one or the other is celebrated – while the other risks being left to suffer.

Not true at Untapped, as the well-rounded fun all begins with the plethora of food choices. Thanks to a well-stocked food truck area where everyone from Fred’s Smokewagon, Nammi, and Easy Slider to Gepetto’s Pizza, Holy Frijole, and So-Cal Tacos to name but a few will pull up for business. As for the beers, Untapped has always honored a huge variety of craft and import breweries, and this year is certainly no exception. A full 70 breweries (among them, Rahr & Sons, Goose Island, Boulevard Brewing Co.; Alaskan Brewing Co., and Ballast Point) will be hawking some 200 different brews from 14 beer tents, along with a real beer garden, and even something called the Goose Island VIP lounge. Some of the special beer tappings will include Real Ale Codez Triplex, Founders Backwoods Bastard, and Alaskan 2012 Smoked Porter.
And when it comes to “curating” the music, a task Untapped organizers take very seriously, just consider that Untapped stages will be filled with the following including The Joy Formidable, Allen Stone, and Lucius, to People Under the Stairs, The Felice Brothers, Quaker City Night Hawks, Sam Lao and Topic, and La Femme. Jeff Wood, the D.J. from Rahr will also be on hand to entertain as well.
