Willie Nelson is no stranger to the City of Cowboys and Culture. In just 2011, Nelson hosted his annual 4th of July part in the Stockyards and in November, he also accepted the Stephen Burton Award at the Lone Star International Film Festival.

wWillie returned to Fort Worth last weekend to perform at Billy Bob's Texas in the historic Stockyards. This was my first Willie Nelson show to ever attend, and no one could have ever prepared me for what a great show it would amount to. In person, his voice is like no other, calming to the soul and the show was full of high energy as the 78-year old interacted with the audience throughout.  Somehow, I mustered up the courage to slide up to the front of the stage and throw him one of our red Fort Worth bandannas. He smiled and ended up wearing it for most of the second half of the show! He was so upbeat, and full of joy as I watched him casually sign autographs for 15+ minutes after the show had ended. Of course, we didn't miss the chance to get his signature on our bandanna!

Willie wasn't the only hit on stage that night. He brought with him his sister, Bobbie on piano, son, Lukas on guitar and vocals and daughter, Amy Nelson who sang background vocals for a few songs. Lukas' voice was uncanny how much it resembled his father's and at age 23, it's no wonder he is a hit. Willie sang fan favorites including Always on My Mind, Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys and On the Road Again.
