Fort Worth is home to seemingly unlimited opportunities for the athlete in your family –– whether the sport is soccer, track, dance, rodeo or roping. If you’re in town for a competition or game, here are some dining opportunities near six local sports complexes.
Game On
The Westside location puts Game On in reach of a score of fast food restaurants. Local options Woody Creek BBQ near Ridgmar Mall, Wild Acre Camp Bowie and Fuego Burger are all up the road. Travel a little farther and you’ll find that Campisi’s Italian Restaurant and Little Lilly Sushi as well as iconic treasures like Edelweiss German Restaurant and The Lunch Box all within a few miles of this complex.
Farrington Field
Fort Worth ISD’s public field sits, literally, in the middle of our Cultural District, which means that your access to excellent eats is almost guaranteed. A short walk up University Drive to Crockett Row at West 7th and the surrounding streets, and you’ll find Rodeo Goat, the original Fred’s Texas Café, and the Crockett Row Food Hall, packed with options.
Steel City Pops will provide the treats for your team. Farrington Field’s parking lot also serves as extra parking for events like Mayfest and on the weekends for the restaurants around the area. You can also reserve the lot for overflow bus parking by contacting the FWISD.
Fort Worth Convention Center
If you’re at an event here, you’re really in luck! There’s a stunning amount of good eats in and around Sundance Square (Reata Restaurant, Del Frisco’s Grille and Little Red Wasp) to name a few and they’re easily walkable. If you need pastries or breakfast, Yolk near Sundance Square or Sons Coffee on Lancaster Ave are both great options.
Rolling Hills Rugby and Soccer Complex
The southeast Fort Worth complex is near a dozen little hole-in-the-wall taco and chicken joints up westbound Business 287. Travel a little farther up I-35W northbound and over to Hemphill and you’ll hit the goldmine of all things taco, including El Mil Tacos, Tacos Ernesto, Chalio’s and the original Salsa Limon restaurant inside La Gran Plaza. Alma’s Paletiera will provide you all the cool treats you might need.
Will Rogers Memorial Center & Dickies Arena
Located just on the other side of the University Drive from Farrington Field, you can access all the goodies mentioned above. In addition, you’ll find that Piola Italian Restaurant, Tuk Tuk Thai and Righteous Foods are all walkable. Taco Heads and the venerable Montgomery Street Café are also located just across the way on Montgomery Street.
YMCA Sports Complex
The location is fairly close to the food options on Hulen Street, including Wasabi Sushi, Thai Select, Sushi Tao and the restaurants at Hulen Mall. If you go north to Granbury Road, you’ll find Charley’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers.
