Fort Worth continues a standing thirteen-year tradition this year by hosting the 13th annual North Texas White Cane Safety Day walk and celebration event on October 15, the day recognized nationally as White Cane Safety Day as designated by President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1964. The event is to raise awareness and celebrate independence.
On Saturday, October 15, participants will meet between 12:30 pm and 12:45 pm at the starting point located at Westwood Contractors (located at 951 West 7th Street in Fort Worth 76102). Participants will then walk a little less than 3/4 of a mile along the south side of West 7th Street to the destination, the Fort Worth Police & Firefighters Memorial (located at 2201 West 7th Street Fort Worth 76107), for a celebration until 3:00 pm. A group will walk together back to the starting point (951 West 7th Street in Fort Worth 76102) at 3:00 pm.
