Sounds Modern: Listening In(ward)

  • From: March 3, 2018

Have you ever overheard the private thoughts of a stranger? On March 3 at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, Sounds Modern will present music that projects inward experience out loud. Much as Ron Mueck’s lifelike and detailed sculptures invite their viewers into the psychological worlds of the figures, music of the late California visionary James Tenney and living composers Miguel Espinel, Ashley Fure, Caroline Mallonee, and Andrew May will invite the audience to listen in(ward) to intimate meditations and conversations. Performers will include Joseph Klein, Colton Lytle, Elizabeth McNutt, and Shannon Wettstein, composers Espinel and May, and UNT’s Nova Ensemble. The most up-to-the-minute and least predictable concert music series in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Sounds Modern explores links between contemporary music and visual arts, connecting thematically to exhibits at the Fort Worth Modern Art Museum.
