There are no reported cases of the disease in the Dallas-Fort Worth region.
The public health department for Tarrant County, which includes Fort Worth, posted this global tracking map of cases and a general information fact sheet.
Health experts recommend common best practices for healthy travel, especially:
- Frequently clean hands by using alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water, especially after contact with common surfaces such as handrails.
- Avoid close contact with people who have fever and cough
- When coughing and sneezing, cover mouth and nose with flexed elbow or tissue. Throw away tissue immediately and wash hands.

You may hear different names for this outbreak. Commonly called coronavirus, the disease has been formally named COVID-19. The virus that causes the disease was just named SARS-CoV-2.
The Fort Worth Convention Center has deployed additional hand-sanitizer stations throughout the facility.
- FWCC has purchased and deployed additional hand sanitizers around the building
- FWCC is placing hand sanitizers in front of food and beverage buffet lines
- FWCC is placing posters around the building reminding attendees to wash their hands
- FWCC will be installing clings in the restrooms reminding attendees to wash their hands
- All restroom outer doors will remain open
- FWCC will hire additional temp labor specifically assigned to clean doors and handrails
- Tarrant County Public Health continues to work closely with the CDC and Texas Department of State Health Services to get the latest updates on this evolving situation and is coordinating with local agencies and sending out daily updates
