The Backstage

Favorite Fort Worth restaurants: I have many favorite Fort Worth restaurants and visit most of them often. I eat out more than I eat at home. The oldest being The Mexican Inn Cafe #2 on Henderson St. I have been a regular there since 1950! Other favorites are Joe T Garcia’s, Cattlemen’s, The Star Cafe, El Rancho Grande, Angelo’s BBQ, Coopers BBQ, Ol’ South Pancake House, Horseshoe Hill, The Capital Grille and Reata and all the home cookin’ joints such as The Dixie House, Montgomery Street Cafe, The West Side Cafe, Vickery Cafe and Esperanza’s. My favorite burger joints include Kincaid's, Tommy’s & Fred’s.

Favorite Fort Worth place to take visitors: I love taking visiting artists to Joe T Garcia’s, the patio is magic! Sundance Square is another favorite.

Best Fort Worth place to enjoy the outdoors: Fort Worth Botanic Gardens, especially the Japanese Gardens. The Water Gardens are fun to show off also.

Favorite Fort Worth place to listen to live music:  Of course, Billy Bob’s Texas. My other favorites are The Magnolia Motor Lounge, Lola’s, Lola’s Trailer Park, Fort Worth Live and The Longhorn Saloon. McDavid Studio and Bass Hall are great too as is W.E. Scott Theater.

What do you think visitors will find unexpected about Fort Worth? Visitors are usually impressed by The Stockyards and the beauty of our downtown area, Sundance Square and the Water Gardens. Equally unexpected but impressive is our Museum District, Botanic Gardens and Zoo.
