Part of what makes Fort Worth a great destination is that not only are there so many things to do - they're also conveniently concentrated in three main districts.
The distinguished Cultural District just west of downtown houses some of the finest and best-loved art in the world, including works by contemporary artists like Andy Warhol, Western artists such as Remington and Russell, and brilliant works by Old World masters, including Michelangelo's first painting, The Torment of Saint Anthony.
Between pondering over a Pollock at The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth or learning about everything from dinosaurs to diesel fuel at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, you just might have time to head downtown for an aria at the Bass Performance Hall or a recital at the Maddox-Muse Center next door.
Located in another of Fort Worth's major visitor districts, Sundance Square, these stalwarts deliver some of the finest concerts, operas and other arts performances west of the Mississippi.
Still, they offer only one side of the downtown experience, which seamlessly blends Fort Worth's cowboys and culture personalities. One night you can enjoy fine wine and contemporary cuisine in chic, upscale ambience, and the next night cut loose over bison burgers and beer at joint right next door!
Last but not least, when you're ready for more of that boots-and-blue-jeans side of Fort Worth, head to the city's third major attractions area, the historic Stockyards District.
Walk the wooden sidewalks along western wear shops, settle in for real Texas barbecue and be sure to catch either the morning or afternoon run of the world's only twice-daily cattle drive, with giant Texas Longhorns clomping their way down Exchange Street.
On weekends, enjoy the Stockyards' legend-making rodeo, and while you're in the area, don't forget to slip into the world's largest honky tonk for a quick game of pool or some free dance lessons. After all, why leave Texas without learning how to two-step?
