Fort Worth bubbles over in culture, and discovering Lunar New Year activities in our city during your February visit is a must!

Lunar New Year is the time of the year where those celebrating reunite with their families, and the holiday is celebrated for multiple days. While 2024 is the year of the dragon in the Chinese Zodiac, it’s vital to know that different regions across Asia celebrate Lunar New Year in many ways and may follow a different zodiac (Smithsonian’s National Museum of Asian Art).

Here are ways you can observe Lunar New Year while in Fort Worth:

Things to Do

Dragon dances, prizes, and more! For 14 days, February 2nd-18th, experience cultural performances, food and shopping at the Huong Dao Temple’s Spring Blossom Festival in East Fort Worth.

Celebrate Lunar New Year with Fort Worth Sister Cities International at the Kimbell! There will be activities like New Year couplet art-marking, refreshments and you will hear sounds of traditional Chinese music in the Kimbell’s Kahn Building on Friday, February 9th.

Places to Eat and People to See

Chef Patrick Ru’s dumplings at Teddy Wongs may be for you as dumplings are a must-have during Lunar New Year. In case you need a happy hour break after a busy day in our city, enjoy a complimentary order of dumplings when you order a wine flight at this Near Southside restaurant.

If you enjoy local culture and immersive experiences, Hao Tran’s Grocery Cafe is the perfect spot to partake in cooking classes, communal dinners and simply buying local. When you see Hao, be sure to thank her for Fort Worth’s obsession with dumplings.
