Just because the sun goes down doesn’t mean that fun for the family in Fort Worth has to be done. Experience Cowtown at night with our favorite hot spots for entertainment that aren’t just family-friendly but are #fortworthit any day of the week.

Billy Bob’s Texas

Don't let this shock you too much. Billy Bob’s Texas has long been a family-friendly establishment, allowing minors under 18 to attend concerts with a parent or guardian. As a bonus, Billy Bob’s no longer allows smoking inside! This means that you can slip in with the kids early evening (though they open at 11 a.m.) to play in the arcade, take a stroll through the gift shop, and then end the night watching professional bull riding that occurs every Friday and Saturday at 9 and 10 p.m. I recommend the 9 p.m. Let’s not forget, this is a honky-tonk that stays open ‘til 2 a.m. on the weekends! Get the details.

P.S. Don't miss the free line dancing lessons on Thursdays at 7 p.m. and Saturdays at high noon!

Movie Night at Coyote Drive-In

Watch a movie under the stars and enjoy the skyline of Fort Worth in the background. Family friendly with a collection of the latest movies as well as classic favorites. Some nights even feature live music! The Coyote Drive-In Canteen offers a wide variety of food and beverage options. Get the details.

OMNI IMAX® Dome

If you want to do something fun that is out of the ordinary and requires very little parent-struggles, take your kids to the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History's IMAX Dome for a showing. While waiting in line, you will learn first-hand how the films are fed through the machines. Upon entering the theater, the adventure of merely finding your seat will soon be overshadowed by the immersive viewing experience. This is a well spent movie ticket (which isn’t that much more than regular movie tickets). Get the details.

Shopping Districts

Let’s just be honest, kids go nuts when confined into one space for too long. One of Fort Worth’s many shopping districts can help you with that. Spend time eating at any of the many offerings, check their calendars for family-friendly events and spend as little or as much as you want shopping around.

My favorites are:

Crockett Row at West 7th - adjacent to the Cultural District, this night out will make you feel young and urban again. Get the details.

The Shops at Clearfork - with plenty of dining options, you can grab a bite and let the kids have a little fun and freedom exploring the Plaza. Get the details.

Near Southside - spend time popping in and out of some very cool and off-the-beaten-path shops like SiNaCa Studios School of Glass and Space Cowboy before ordering an ice cream at Melt. Get the details.

Sundance Square Plaza

Any night of the year is a great one for relaxing in the heart of downtown in Sundance Square Plaza. The Plaza features a nightly, synchronized light show between the gorgeous fountains, four large umbrellas and surrounding buildings. Sundance Square Plaza regularly hosts local bands and family-friendly entertainment, yoga and Pilates classes and outdoor movies in the summer. Get the details.

AMC Palace Theatre 9 in Sundance Square

Get comfy while you watch a movie in a luxurious power recliner at the AMC Palace Theatre 9 in downtown. This location has both a Coca-Cola Freestyle machine and a MacGuffins Bar. Perfect for young and old. Parking validation is also available. Get the details.

Top Golf

Fore! Guests of all ages and skill levels can enjoy their time at Top Golf, where bays are rented by the hour and not by the person. Hit micro-chipped golf balls into giant targets in the outfield to score points. One to six people can play the game in a bay and are allowed to hit unlimited golf balls during the rental time.
