The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra Performs Mahler’s 9th Symphony
Mahler’s Symphony No. 9 is a work of epic proportions, often considered his farewell to life. Superstitious about the “curse of the ninth” that claimed Beethoven and Schubert, Mahler’s final symphony is filled with sweeping melodies and emotional depth. Robert Spano leads the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra in this powerful performance, which begins with the irregular rhythm Leonard Bernstein called Mahler’s failing heartbeat.
MARCH 16-22
Cliburn Screening Auditions at TCU
The Seventeenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition Screening Auditions will take place exclusively in Fort Worth — a departure from the usual global audition process. On March 16–22 at TCU’s PepsiCo Recital Hall, 77 pianists will perform 25-minute recitals before a live audience and a panel of five internationally recognized jurors. Only 30 will advance to the prestigious 2025 Cliburn Competition in May. This rare opportunity to witness world-class talent is free and open to the public. No tickets are required.

Described as having “silken-toned virtuosity” (Chicago Classical Review), Porter has performed with major orchestras across the U.S., while Pouliot, hailed as “one of those special talents that comes along once in a lifetime” (Toronto Star), has captivated audiences worldwide. Pianist Huang has appeared at prestigious festivals and venues, including the Hollywood Bowl and Ravinia. Experience these extraordinary musicians for an evening of world-class classical music.
