The arrival of fall is also the arrival of all the things we love about the season: sitting on patios, leisurely walks in scenery rapidly changing colors, the beginning of holiday planning, and, of course, football. With our very own TCU and Texas Wesleyan battling it out every week on the field (either home or away), it’s bound to be an entertaining fall. If you didn’t snag tickets to a game or if you’re watching your team on a Fort Worth getaway, here are the best sports bars in the city to watch.

Lot 12 Rooftop Bar

Come for the game, stay for the view. This rooftop bar overlooks the TCU campus and stadium. It’s decked out in purple for Horned Frog game days and fills up quickly with fans watching the game on big screens.

Shaw’s Patio and Grill

This bar and grill on Magnolia Ave. is the perfect place to stop for an afternoon of football during your exploration of the Near Southside. Try their gourmet burgers, shareable snacks and classic sandwiches.

Cowboy Channel Bar

In the heart of the Stockyards, the Cowboy Channel Bar is the first and only sports bar devoted solely to western sports. It’s nestled along the boardwalk of East Exchange Ave, where the Fort Worth Herd cattle drive passes by twice a day, and steps away from Cowtown Coliseum, a hub for western equestrian sports for the last century. As you’re out exploring the Stockyards, be sure to stop by for a drink and watch the rodeo!

Rogers Roundhouse

This local favorite has a fun atmosphere and is an easy place to stay for the whole game. The kid-friendly patio has tons of TV screens, delicious bar food and cold drinks and pitchers.

Birdie’s Social Club

Enjoy the patio at Birdies, with a giant screen, great margaritas, yummy food and long picnic tables perfect for groups. It’s mostly an outdoor area, so ideal on a nice fall day.

Nickel City

This dive bar on South Main is a local favorite with a fun, friendly atmosphere and fun beverage options like espresso martinis on draft. It’s a great spot to watch the game while munching on a Detroit-style coney dog, burger or wings.

Flying Saucer

Settle in at Flying Saucer, with 200+ beers on tap, pub fare and a massive patio in the heart of Sundance Square. You may wish to stick around after the game for their beer specials and trivia nights.

Buffalo Bros

For the wing-enthusiasts among us, check out this local wing joint with daily specials and what feels like thousands of screens to watch. Choose to be downtown in their Sundance Square location, or nearby the TCU campus for the ultimate gameday spirit.

Texas Republic

The West 7th area is always hopping, and that’s especially true at Texas Republic. The indoor/outdoor space is perfect for relaxing and enjoying their drinks, food and music.

Koe Wetzel’s Riot Room

A block away, the Riot Room has a distinctly Texas feel with a dance floor, Texas décor and country music blasting from the speakers. Grab a booth on the covered patio and spend the day watching your favorite teams.

Tulane’s

Tulane’s is a New Orleans-style dive bar in the Foundry district, tucked away on a nondescript street. Inside is a full bar, lounge area and pool tables in case you want an activity at halftime.

City Works Eatery & Pour House

One of the biggest beer bars in Fort Worth, City Works has 90 beers on tap, 30 of which are dedicated to local breweries. Order from their menu of classic American with a few twists and enjoy a seasonal beer as you take in the game and the lively ambiance of the Shops at Clearfork.
