Fort Worth Hosts Three Largescale Sports Events in 10 Days

FORT WORTH (May 19, 2022) – The countdown to three of the most anticipated sporting events taking place in Fort Worth has begun: PBR World Finals, the Charles Schwab Challenge and the NASCAR All-Star Race kick off Thursday, May 19 through Sunday, May 29.

  • PBR World Finals at Dickies Arena, May 19-22
  • The NASCAR All-Star Race at Texas Motor Speedway, May 22
  • Charles Schwab Challenge at the Colonial Country Club, May 23-29

“Hosting these three events is a tremendous win for Fort Worth, which has become an incredible stage for sports,” said Mitch Whitten, chief operating officer for Visit Fort Worth. “Our city and hospitality community stand ready to roll out the red carpet and welcome thousands of passionate fans.”

PBR World Finals features 40 of the world’s best bull riders competing for the coveted gold buckle and a $1 million bonus. PBR is expected to bring more than 70,000 visitors to the city, with a projected economic impact up to $28 million.

The NASCAR All-Star race is the highlight of race weekend, May 20-22, with Texas Motor Speedway hosting the $1 million-to-win spectacle and all three of NASCAR’s premier series. The NASCAR Open will begin at 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 22 and the NASCAR All-Star Race starts at 7 p.m.

“Fort Worth continues to benefit from the thousands of visitors and the national exposure these sporting events bring,” said Jason Sands, executive director for the Fort Worth Sports Commission. “Whether it's bull riding, NASCAR or the PGA, the common thread is that visitors enjoy coming to Fort Worth to experience all our city has to offer.”

The Charles Schwab Challenge, the longest running professional golf tournament on the PGA Tour, will be held May 26-29 at the historic Colonial Country Club. The winner will take home 60% of the $8.4 million total purse plus a fully restored and modernized 1979 Schwab Firebird.
