State Incentives
 

The Texas Moving Image Industry Incentive Fund (TMIIIP), administered by the Texas Film Commission, is a competitive cash rebate determined by eligible Texas spend.
 

  • $150 million allocated each year through 2036
  • 5-25% base incentive with stackable uplifts for up to 31% rebate
  • Minimum in-state spend of $100,000 (commercial, video games) or $250,000 (film and TV)
  • 35% of paid cast and crew must be Texas residents
  • 60% of total production must be completed in Texas


The Texas Comptroller allows productions to claim several tax exemptions, including:

  • Sales Tax: For items or services necessary to and used or consumed directly during the production of a project intended for commercial distribution
  • Hotel Occupancy Tax: For guests who occupy a hotel room for 30 or more consecutive days (considered permanent residents). *Must notify hotel in advance
  • Fuel Tax Refunds: For fuels used in off-highway, non-vehicular, gasoline-powered equipment such as generators, boats, or tractors
