Fort Worth is proud to support filmmakers on the road to the OSCARS®!
 

The Fort Worth Film Commission’s Premiere Package program supports short film projects seeking Academy Award® eligibility by providing a complimentary qualifying theatrical release in Tarrant County. The Dallas-Fort Worth region is one of only six markets where films can become eligible for an Oscar® through a theatrical run.

Filmmakers from around the world are invited to apply for a package which includes the following:

Oscar-Qualifying Screening

  • Daily short film screening for seven consecutive days at our partner theater Texas Movie Bistro

Red Carpet Event

All selected films will screen during a red carpet celebration.

  • Connect with package recipients, local film industry leaders, creatives, and community partners
  • Complimentary snacks and beverages
  • Professional photographer
  • Printed movie poster with program laurels
  • Promotional support from Fort Worth Film Commission

For those who are able to attend the red carpet event, travel to Fort Worth will be provided:

  • Roundtrip airfare for 1-2 members of the cast or crew
  • Up to four complimentary room nights at a Fort Worth hotel
  • Transportation stipend during your stay
  • Guided tour of the city

Timeline:

  • Application Due Date: July 15, 2026
  • Filmmaker Notification: August 3, 2026
  • Red Carpet Event: September 2026
    • Date to be determined

All applications will be reviewed by our Selection Committee, led by ACADEMY AWARD®-winning filmmaker Brandon Oldenburg, with four projects chosen to receive a Premiere Package each year.

In addition, we are thrilled to partner with the Louisiana Film Prize to provide a package for the winning short film.  Congratulations to this year's Prize Fest winner: Last Minute!
