VISIT FORT WORTH ANNOUNCES NEW MEMBERS TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS Prominent business leader appointed as new chairman 

FORT WORTH, TEXAS (December 6, 2022) – Visit Fort Worth announced new voting members of its Board of Directors for Fiscal Year  2023, including new Chairman Brian Newby, managing partner of Cantey Hanger.

“At a time of historic growth for Fort Worth tourism, Brian’s experience in local and state economic development will be invaluable to our organization,” said Bob Jameson, president and CEO of Visit Fort Worth. 

Brian Newby’s extensive experience includes representing national and local companies, governmental entities and nonprofits. He has served in numerous local, state and national leadership positions, including the Texas governor’s office, where his responsibilities included state tourism promotion and economic development. He retired at the rank of Major General in the United States Air Force

The Visit Fort Worth Board of Directors consists of 19 voting members and 22 non-voting ex-officio members. Three current board members will also join the Visit Fort Worth executive committee: 

  • Susan Alanis, chief operating officer, Tarrant County College
  • Larry Auth, general manager, Omni Fort Worth Hotel
  • Glenda Thompson, principal, Gestures Marketing

Other key changes to the Visit Fort Worth Board include new voting member Marianne Auld, managing partner at Kelly Hart, and William Johnson, assistant city manager, City of Fort Worth, as non-voting ex-officio members of the board. 

 Officers for the fiscal year 2023 are:

  • Brian Newby, Chairman
  • Mark Nurdin, Immediate Past Chair
  • Susan Alanis, Vice Chair
  • Crawford Edwards, Secretary/Treasurer

Ex-officio members also include committee chairs for the Visit Fort Worth Marketing Committee, Sales Committee, Fort Worth Sports Commission, Fort Worth Film Commission, Hear Fort Worth, and the presidents of the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, Fort Worth Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce and the Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
