The area has seen a boom of eateries and watering holes over the last few years, but there are plenty of other things to do. We break down how to make the most of 24 hours in the area.
Breakfast at Hot Box Biscuit Club or Coffee at Roots
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and Hot Box Biscuit Club serves some of the best biscuits in town. A top menu item is The People’s Champ, a sugar brined fried chicken topped with housemade sausage pepper gravy and cheese sandwiched between a buttermilk biscuit. Afterwards, head to Roots Coffeehouse for a cup of coffee and pastry.
Spend the morning shopping along Main Street
If you’re looking for a Fort Worth souvenir that isn’t your typical destination t-shirt, this is the spot for you. Known for its custom t-shirts and goods, Morgan Mercantile is a go-to for a uniquely Fort Worth tee (or two).
A little further down Main Street, you’ll find local boutique Winton and Waits. The adorable shop is known for its one-of-a-kind styles, including its own jewelry line and luxury bath products. Midday Brews and ‘Cue
After a morning of shopping, refuel with some delicious barbecue at Panther City BBQ. If you’re looking to share or simply try a little bit of everything, their platters are a great option. Make sure to order the burnt ends jalapeno poppers!
Great barbecue needs great beer. Luckily there are a few breweries in the area to choose from, like Rahr and Sons, where you’ll find local favorite Adios Pantalones, a light and crisp beer with lemon and lime. Other brewery options include Funky Picnic Brewery and HopFusion Ale Works. If ciders are more your thing, make sure to check out Locust Cider.
Afternoon of bowling at Bowlounge
Hit a strike at Bowlounge, with an afternoon of bowling. It’s the ideal spot for both kids and adults to enjoy some competitive fun and a bite to eat. Their menu features items like pizza and wings. There is also a full bar that offers handcrafted cocktails and beer.
Dinner at Tinies
For dinner, you’ll want to head to Tinies. The authentic Mexican restaurant is known for its shareable dinner plates like guajillo braised short ribs and roasted pork pastor. On a warm spring day, we recommend their rooftop patio for one of the best views of the Fort Worth skyline.
End the night with live music at Tulips or performance at Amphibian Stage
At Tulips you’re likely to find live music most days of the week. It is also a great spot to simply grab a drink with its array of craft cocktails and local beers. If you need a late-night snack, a smashburger and tots from Gustos, the food truck behind the venue is just what you need to satisfy that craving.
If you’re looking for something a little different, head to Amphibian Stage for a night of stand-up comedy or a performance. Afterward, head to Nickel City for a nightcap and snack from their food truck next door.
