Three perspectives on the hospitality industry from Visit Fort Worth President & CEO, Bob Jameson.
Trinity Metro Orange Line
This month, there will be a new, fun and easy way to travel between Downtown Fort Worth and the Stockyards. The Orange Line is Trinity Metro’s new line to transport you between Fort Worth’s largest attractions. It will run every 15 minutes from 5am – 1am, 7 days a week. The Orange Line will make stops along Houston St. and Commerce St. downtown, then travel up and down Main St. to drop off and pick up passengers in the center of the Fort Worth Stockyards. It will also make stops in the Northside and the TEXRail station at 28th Street.
This is an exciting new way to think about public transportation for visitors. Check it out this month when service starts on September 15th!
Universities’ Expansion
We’re thrilled that our area universities have announced their plans for expanding their campuses. Recently, UT Arlington announced a major campus for Walsh Ranch. Texas A&M approved the funding for their second building in downtown Fort Worth. TCU plans to expand their campus west down Barry Street and include facilities for athletics, academics and a boutique hotel. These additions will bring more opportunities to Fort Worth for research in higher education. And for tourism, that means more opportunities to welcome corporations, conventions, visiting experts and students to Fort Worth.
Hispanic Heritage Month
This year’s Hispanic Heritage Month will be full of events and activities that showcase the vibrant culture of the Hispanic community in Fort Worth. Join us for a weekend of celebrations on September 14th at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden for the Latin American Flag Parade. Come out to the Stockyards on September 15th for the Fiestas Patrias Parade and Celebration. Enjoy these free, all-day celebrations featuring live music, food, and dancing. See how you can celebrate all month long and add your own event to our website at FortWorth.com/HispanicHeritage.
