USA FENCING RETURNS TO FORT WORTH
Fort Worth to host 2023 USA Fencing March North American Cup
FORT WORTH, TEXAS (August 29, 2022) – USA Fencing has named Fort Worth as the host for the 2023 USA Fencing March North American Cup. The championship event will be held at the Fort Worth Convention Center March 3-6, 2023. The event will bring more than 1200 athletes from across the country to Fort Worth for an estimated economic impact of more than $2 million dollars to local businesses.
“We value our incredible partnership with USA Fencing and are extremely excited about the opportunity to welcome their athletes, coaches and fans to Fort Worth and experience all our city has to offer,” said Jason Sands, executive director of the Fort Worth Sports Commission. “Our entire city rallies around these events to ensure their success and to have an organization as prestigious as USA Fencing continue to come back shows that we are doing something right,” he said.
“USA Fencing is extremely excited to be returning to Fort Worth for our North American Cup next March,” said Glen Hollingsworth, senior events manager for USA Fencing. “The collaborative approach of our partners at Fort Worth Sports Commission and Visit Fort Worth made it an easy decision to come back after a successful tournament last April. We’re looking forward to showcasing the sport to the community once again and bringing a whole new group of fencers to the city.”
This latest win for Fort Worth is due in large part to a comprehensive strategy by the Fort Worth Sports Commission and Visit Fort Worth to attract United States Olympic & Para-Olympic Committee Governing Bodies to Fort Worth. Other USOPC Governing Bodies that have awarded or hosted events in Fort Worth in the past few years include USA Gymnastics, USA Track & Field, USA Wrestling, USA Taekwondo and USA Table Tennis.
