Fort Worth Zoo 

It’s been a year of babies at Fort Worth Zoo! Two infant gorillas, a giraffe calf, lion cub, elephant calf, crocodile monitor hatchling, mandrill baby, two colobus monkey baby, and baby rockhopper penguin are the Zoo’s newest residents. Ranked a top zoo in the nation, the Fort Worth Zoo is home to over 500 species of animals, including 68 endangered and threatened species. Explore almost a dozen different habitats including a big cat habitat called Predators of Asia and Africa, Elephant Springs, African Savanna, Australian Outback and Texas Wild!, which celebrates the Lone Star State and its wildlife.  

 

Sundance Square & Downtown Fort Worth 

Downtown Fort Worth is a lively, walkable area that has become one of the most popular urban hubs in the nation. Sundance Square is a 35-block entertainment district with restaurants, galleries, shopping and museums, headlined by the beautiful Bass Performance Hall. With tours, Broadway performances, and classical concerts throughout the year, Ball Hall is a great way to experience the culture of Fort Worth. Enjoy live music on the weekends in Sundance Square Plaza, a beautiful place to relax (or run around in the fountain) with your family in the heart of Fort Worth. 

 

Stockyards  

The Stockyards National Historic District is one of Fort Worth top attractions. See the Fort Worth Herd, the world’s only twice-daily cattle drive. Explore Mule Alley, with great restaurants and shopping, anchored by the Hotel Drover, an Autograph Collection Resort. Aspiring cowboys and cowgirls can hone their skills at the Herd Experience. Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 1:30-2:30, this free event takes you behind the scenes, teaching about life on the trail during the Cattle Drive Era. Activities can include roping, grooming and saddling a horse, chuck wagon stories and lots of photo ops! 

 

Cultural District 

Fort Worth’s world-renowned Cultural District has five stunning museums that will entertain the art lovers out there. The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History hosts Spring Break at the Museum from March 11-15, an interactive experience catering to all ages. Exhibits include “Black Cowboys: An American Story,” “Cowtown Takes Flight,” and planetarium shows that explore the wonders of the upcoming total solar eclipse, which will pass right over Fort Worth on April 8th.  

 

At the Amon Carter Museum's Spring Break at the Carter, kids of all ages can enjoy this free, fun-filled event with gallery games, art-making activities, creativity challenges and more.  

 

Botanic Garden’s Dinosaurs Around the World 

Calling all explorers! Experience what it was like when dinosaurs roamed the Earth. Through May 30, you can explore this outdoor exhibit with animatronic dinosaurs from every continent and a multi-level narrative that will entertain your group throughout the exhibit. A great activity for kids and dino-enthusiasts. Adults will enjoy the beauty of the garden, with several rose gardens, a Japanese garden and rain forest conservatory. 

 

Sid Richardson Museum – Spring Break Open Studio and Family Workshop 

The Sid Richardson Museum, located in Sundance Square, features permanent and special exhibitions of paintings by premier Western artists Frederic Remington and Charles M. Russell. The Spring Break Open Studio and Workshops is a great activity for kids and teens, who will see art come to life through exciting and educational programs like workshops, story times and hands-on activities. 

 

American Airlines CR Smith Museum 

The American Airlines CR Smith Museum is a great place for your little aviator. The signature piece of the museum is a retired 1940 Douglas DC-3, the aircraft that revolutionized commercial air travel. Their exhibits are perfect for participation of all ages, including hundreds of historical artifacts, photos, full-scale aircraft engines, videos and interactive activities, including getting to sit in the flight deck of an airliner. Sign up kids ages 4-10 for the March airCRAFT activity, which fosters the next generation of inventors, builders and dreamers. 

 

Hike and Bike Your Way Through the City 

The Trinity Trails’ 100+ miles of trails provide lots of opportunities for hiking, biking, strolling, skateboarding, scootering or any other two-wheeled activity. Rent bikes with Fort Worth’s bike sharing program, BCycle, at dozens of bike sharing stations around the city. Start at the Trinity Trailhead at Clearfork and cycle past downtown, or take advantage of the city’s spectacular hiking trails that will give you a different perspective of Fort Worth.

Fort Worth Ale and Distillery Trail 

Fort Worth’s homegrown brewery and distillery population is booming, giving locals and visitors a tidal wave of amazing beers and liquors to sip and savor. Whether you’re new to the ways of tasting or an aficionado, there are tons of options to choose from if you’re looking for your new favorite craft liquors or beer. Check out all the breweries and distilleries along the Trail. 

 

Cowtown Cycle Party 

If you like to multitask, check out the Cowtown Cycle Party! Get some exercise, fresh air and quality time with friends as you pedal around attractions in Fort Worth’s Near Southside and Downtown. It’s a BYOB experience, so bring your own beverages and see the city in an entirely new way. 

 

Stockyards Ghost and Crime Tours 

While the Stockyards is a great place for every cowgirl or cowboy, when the sun sets you can indulge your paranormal interests with the original Stockyards Ghost Tour. Led by Cowtown Winery (which is also haunted), the tour will take you through the ghoulish history of the Stockyards, with stops at the Cadillac Hotel, Miss Molly’s B&B, the Stockyards Hotel and many more. Cowtown Winery’s Crime Tour follows in the footsteps of the West’s most famous outlaws. It explores crime stories, strikes and gang violence that took place in the Stockyards over the last 100 years. Live Music in Sundance Square Plaza & Scat Jazz Lounge 

Nestled in the heart of downtown, Sundance Square features a lively and diverse music scene. Every Thursday through Sunday evening, Sundance Square Plaza transforms into a stage for live music, showcasing a myriad of talents and genres. Performer calendars are posted each Thursday.  

 

Nearby, in the basement of the historic Woolworth building, Scat Jazz Lounge is reminiscent of New York underground clubs. The swanky, cozy space provides guests with an escape from the street noise and some of the best music in the city. Scat Jazz hosts one of Fort Worth’s longest running weekly shows where you never quite know who is going to show up.
