Disc golf, badminton, chess and bowling - four games perfect for a winning family experience. Here's where you can play in Fort Worth.
Disc Golf
Have you ever teed off in Fort Worth? Famous courses such as Colonial Country Club and Shady Oaks are favored among avid golfers. Put up your clubs for this game, though. Disc golf is played with a flying disc or Frisbee® and a tailored flick of the wrist. One throw (aka stroke) is counted each time the disc is thrown towards the "hole." As with golf, the goal is to play each round with the fewest throws possible. The player with the lowest total throws for the round wins. Read up on the specifics here.

Badminton
Badminton was primed to be a popular sport to watch during the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. With the games postponed, there's no time like the present to learn the game at home. For those looking for a more hands-on experience, the Fort Worth Badminton Club operates out of the Chisholm Trail Community Center on Thursdays and Sunday (pre-Covid). Follow the community center to learn more about their reopening date and plans for organized sports.
Chess
Chess is a two-player strategy board game that is easily one of the most popular games in the world -- and also one of the hardest. Practice is key to becoming a chess champion. If you aren't familiar with the rules, check out this article from Chess.com to learn how to setup your board, make a move and how to win.
Join the Alliance Chess Club's virtual chess club on Chess.com to learn more from the pros and area players. Alliance also hosts the Queen City of the Prairie Open & Fort Worth Championship annually with this year's tournament taking place July-19 at the Hilton Garden Inn Fort Worth Alliance Airport.
Bowling
Bowling is a family favorite that anyone can play. Are you a pro that can hit a split or roll consecutive strikes? Good for you! Need some help? Grab a bowling ball ramp and show 'em what you've got. Cowtown Bowling is one of the few bowling alleys that have reopened and there are several rules in place to follow social distance guidelines. Learn more here.
