Thousands of Fort Worthians, Texans and folks from around the world had their eyes on a recent live-stream music show in the Near Southside. R&B sensation Leon Bridges and local singer-songwriter Abraham Alexander uplifted spirits as part of a fundraising concert that netted more than $60,000 for local artists.
The concert was a reminder of how music can uplift and heal an entire city. Though shelter-at-home restrictions have eased, many venues remain in a virtual state. Here's where to tune in this month.
MAIN AT SOUTH SIDE
This month, MASS is hosting singer-songwriter Ayden Trammell Friday, May 15, at 6 p.m. and Sam Anderson at 8 p.m. The venue rounds out the month with Fort Worth alt-rockers Bummer Vacation on May 30.
THE POST AT RIVER EAST
The Post at River East has become a live-stream music mainstay these past few weeks. The Riverside restaurant and music venue will stream a Live Feed Takeover featuring the Guy Forsyth Band and Jeska Bailey Wednesday, May 13, 6 p.m.
BILLY BOB'S TEXAS
Billy Bob's Texas is returning for a third Facebook live stream, but this time, the focus is all food. The world's largest honky-tonk will host a virtual cooking demo fundraising event on Saturday, May 16, at 6 p.m. with proceeds benefitting the Texas Restaurant Association Relief Fund, (grants, not loans) which was established in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In honor of National BBQ Month, the event will feature BBQ cooking demos by several Texas top chefs, including Fort Worth's own Tim Love.
Coyote Drive-In
Live at the Drive-in Music Series is a new music event produced by Fortress Presents and Wood Hall occurring Saturday, May 23, 12-6 p.m. Fortress Festival co-founder Alec Jhangiani said the drive-in setting allows visitors to choose their level of comfort. Concert attendees can listen from their car or they can bring lawn chairs to enjoy an open-air concert experience. Americana singer-songwriter Paul Cauthen and country music star Nikki Lane head the concert that also features local favorite Vincent Neil Emerson and indie-pop singer-songwriter Remy Reilly. Tickets are $40 per car.
