Friday on the Green

For the first time in three long years, Friday on the Green is back! The good folks with Near Southside Inc. and their partners have two events scheduled for October. The free outdoor event features food vendors, pop-up markets and multiple live acts at 1201 Lipscomb St. Follow the Near Southside on social media for updates.

 

OCTOBER 14

Le Cure Performs at Lola’s

Relive favorites by the iconic British rock band at Lola’s new location near TCU. Le Cure is consistently voted as one of the best cover bands in North Texas. It’s the perfect chance to grab your power suits or legwarmers and relive popular tunes like “Boys Don’t Cry,” “Fascination, Street” and “From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea.”  

 

OCTOBER 18

2022 Cliburn Amateur Competition

The recent Van Cliburn International Piano Competition reached 25 million viewers worldwide. The Cliburn’s popular amateur competition, which allows virtuosos from many career backgrounds to compete, is up next. Nearly 40 competitors representing 19 countries will be in Fort Worth to compete for the chance to perform with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and win gold. 

 

OCTOBER 19

Aretha Franklin Tribute at Bass Performance Hall

Celebrate the life and music of Aretha Franklin later this month. R.E.S.P.E.C.T. brings the Queen of Soul to life through a live band, supreme vocalists and a musical journey of courage, loss and triumph. Audiences will be treated to performances of popular works like “Natural Woman,” “Think” and, of course, “Respect.” The Bass Hall performance promises to pull audiences out of their seats and into the aisles.

 

 

OCTOBER 21

Fort Worth Opera Presents Noches de Zarzuela

Fort Worth Opera presents Noches de Zarzuela at the Rose Marine Theater later this month. The mix of operetta and spoken word that features works by composers Jacinto Guerrero, Federico Moreno Torroba and Soutullo-Vert will be performed by the FWO’s Lesley Resident Artists. Zarzuela is the traditional operatic art form of Spain, and performances of this style of music are rare in North Texas.

 

OCTOBER 22

Casey Donahew Performs at Billy Bob’s Texas

Over the past decade, Casey Donahew has grown from a Texas favorite to a national touring act. His shows consistently sell out, and his albums have received commercial and critical acclaim. You can catch the singer/songwriter behind “Double Wide Dream,” “Let’s Not Say Goodbye Again” and “One Star Flag” at Billy Bob’s Texas on October 22.

 

OCTOBER 28

An Evening with Rhett Miller at The Post

Rhett Miller, the famed lead singer of the Old 97’s, maintains an active solo career. Beyond music, he is a published writer of fiction and non-fiction. You can hear this multi-talented artist late this month at the Post at River East. All ages are welcome to the intimate acoustic performance.
