In the south, most people consider there are only two kinds of tea: iced and sweet. But in Funkytown you can celebrate tea time with or without your pinky raised. Here's where to experience tea time in Fort Worth.

The Ashton Hotel

Afternoon Tea at The Ashton is available exclusively on Saturday afternoons from 2-4 p.m. with a 24-hour advanced reservation. The elegant menu varies by season and the traditional English tea presentation offers a variety of elegant and flavorful teas with an assortment of fresh fruit preserves, biscotti, delicate finger sandwiches, shortbread and pastries. During the holiday season, November 29 to December 29, tea time occurs Thursday through Sunday.

Secret Garden Tea Room

The Secret Garden Tea Room is a hidden gem tucked away inside the Montgomery Street Antique Mall where High Tea is served daily from 2-4 p.m. by reservation only. The cost is $10.95 per person and includes an assortment of tea sandwiches, freshly baked scones with clotted cream, jam and poppyseed bread. Learn more here.

Japanese Garden

Take part in an authentic Japanese tea ceremony set in the Japanese Garden of the Fort Worth Botanic Garden. Participants have a reserved seat to watch the tea ceremony performance, which is held monthly. Tickets are $30 per person and includes admission to the garden.

The Rose Garden Tea Room

A delicate blend of English traditions and Southern charm, the Rose Garden Tea Room is located in the historic Camp Bowie Mercantile. The shop offers a delicious assortment of sandwiches, salads and desserts for regular diners in addition to the High Tea selections.

Consider a girl's day out nibbling on the Three Course High Tea ($24 per person) or simply order up the Dessert Sampler if that's where your heart is. Advanced reservations are required with service beginning at 2 p.m. Don't have time to get your tea time in? Then drop by one of these shops to get your tea leaves.

Leaves Book and Tea Shop

A formal tea time isn't served at Leaves Book and Tea Shop; however, it's a tea lovers dream for the every day. The quaint shop in the up-and-coming South Main Village offers hot and cold varieties, including sparkling tea on tap. Order up and sit back and stay awhile. Leaves doesn't offer Wi-Fi in an effort to help customers unplug.
