Fort Worth Filmmaker Channing Godfrey Peoples’ feature film debut, Miss Juneteeth, recently premiered at Sundance Film Festival. Ahead of its upcoming screening at SXSW, the independent film shared a few of the locations filmed at in Fort Worth. Be on the lookout for these locales! 


The film is based in Texas and follows the journey of Turquoise Jones, a single mom and one-time winner of the Miss Juneteenth Beauty Pageant, as she tries to prepare her daughter Kai to follow in her mother’s footsteps by competing in the Miss Juneteenth competition.

The Juneteenth Museum is dedicated to preserving local memories and historical relics related to the June 19, 1865, announcement of the abolition of slavery in Texas. The gallery is located one block east of I-35W and just north of East Rosedale Street.
