The Waterside development, owned by Trademark Property Co., occupies a 63-acre property that was once part of the Lockheed Martin Recreation Area (LMRA) on Bryant Irvin Road.

As the name suggest, Waterside sits near the banks of the Trinity River and has easy access to the Trinity Trails. Stroll through The Grove, a relaxing space nestled behind the Whole Foods. Waterside also has games, a giant oversized Adirondack chair and art pieces that are eminently Instagram-able. Here are the options to play, shop and eat.

Stay

Residence Inn

Come June, the Residence Inn Waterside will be open and is located just steps away from the action.

Play

Cycle Bar

The low-impact, high-intensity workout can help tone and shape you, whether you’re already an athlete or you have a few COVID pounds to lose. Wednesdays the Bar offers free fitness classes at Waterside.

Yoga Six

Whether you crave a slow flow, an athletic stretch or a high-intensity hot yoga class, you’ll find what you like at this yoga studio.

Club Pilates

If you’ve only ever done the strength-and-stretching exercise Pilates on a mat, you’re in for a treat at Club Pilates. Graduated classes and higher-intensity options are available, and space is limited due to COVID restrictions.

F45

A 45-minute workout combo of high intensity training and circuit training will have you burning two slices of pizza’s worth of calories.

Play Street Museum

Need a little evening time out without your kiddo (ages one through eight)? While Play Street Museum is hosting drop-in care for a hospital system during the week, your child can enjoy weekend and evening programming. And, you can enjoy 90 minutes of browsing the shops.

Shop

Blo Blow Dry Bar

Let the folks at Blo roll out their pink carpet for you. Whether you want curls, braids, an up-do, or a full wash and set, you can get that here. Special events that call for special hair and make-up are also not a challenge for the talented staff.

If you need a little more help with your glam, Amazing Lash Studios, Katours Salon, and The Pretty Kitty are ready to meet you!

Pinspiration

Make a soy candle or a unicorn dream catcher, paint a sign, create a gift for a teacher or the sports fan in your life, and take it home! The DIY paint workshop also offers a Splatter Date – where you can have fun creating a Jackson Pollock-esque splatter masterpiece (and enjoy some champagne and chocolate in the process).

REI

Whether you need a pair of hiking shoes, equipment to kayak the Trinity River, or snow gear, sporty retailer REI will have you set up in minutes. The Bike Shop at REI provides a complement of services, from minor repairs to major overhauls.

Whole Foods

Whole Foods Market reused a substantial amount of the brick and wood from the LMRA buildings that were demolished. Whether you need a week’s worth of groceries or specialty items for your diet –– gluten-free, vegan, Paleo –– Whole Foods’ selection will fit the bill.

Eat

Blaze Pizza

It’s the perfect DIY pizza, and everyone gets what they want without having to share or compromise. There are some great take-out deal bundles (whether you take the pizza home or consume it sitting in The Grove), and vegetarians, vegans, those who are gluten-free, and even meat lovers will be happy with their individual 11-inch pies.

Cookie Dough Bliss

So if you heard “it’s not safe to eat raw cookie dough” all through your childhood, this place is some kind of miracle. Cookie dough that’s safe to consume without baking comes packed by the scoop into bowls, on dough pop sticks, or in actual cookie form.

Piatello Italian Kitchen

The original restaurant that anchored the development five years ago remains a gem in the crown of Fort Worth dining. The spring menu includes a colorful explosion, including asparagus Milanese, a strawberry and beet salad, saffron linguine, and the delicate, delicious panna cotta.

Tricky Fish

The menu could best be described as south Texas meets Louisiana, with a detour to Nashville for a hot chicken sandwich. Coastal cuisine, a handful of salads and burgers complete the simple bill of fare. The brunch specials are awesome, and local area breweries are featured heavily on the bar menu.

The Rim

The second location of The Rim is open with restaurateur Brent Johnson and chef Keith Hicks at the helm. The American retro-style diner serves food with soul like burgers, fried chicken, ox tail and collard greens.

Steel City Pops

All your traditional favorites are here, including a variety of dairy-free options like raspberry lime and blood orange. Grabbing a popsicle to go and walking around The Grove on a spring evening before summer arrives sounds just heavenly.
